Things we cherish

It surprises me,

The things we have,

As humans.

We collect

Things of value,

Reminders of loved ones,

Or just things

That we think are important,

And we just like to have them.

Such as a fireplace that gives us warmth, throughout the freezing winter

Or a television we can use to entertain ourselves

Or some might have a desk at which they create poems such as these

Or a candle to light in the dark to read a book

Or a clock to say what time to meet up with some of your best friends

Or, in the holidays, to sing carols around in the dead of night with your family

Or and alto saxophone, to play jazz songs on to your friends

Or a blanket to stay warm under, when you don’t want to turn up the heat in your home

Or a worm bed to sleep in when you can’t sand being awake any longer

Or a notebook to write your memories into

Or a decoration on your tree that you had made when you were in pre-school

Or a video game that you play non-stop everyday

Or a phone you can call your grandparents with, to tell them that you love them.

Or a good book that you can read aloud when your little cousins come over for a visit.

These are all things that we love and love to give to others,

So that they can have a wonderful time,

Just as we have had.
